Choosing motherboards may seem very easy to some people. You probably think the cheapest or a low priced one that’s compatible is good. The truth is cheaper motherboards have limited features and limited upgradability in the future. Then you might be thinking that what should I get instead? Well keep reading to find out the best motherboards for the Intel LGA 1150 socket. These motherboards are mostly not for value builds and they are roughly $100 to $250. Please also note that this motherboard is only compatible with the Intel 4th gen processors and if you’re not sure check the processor specs. There is also a new update and that there will no longer be “Click Here to Buy” instead the names of the product will be linked.
This is a ATX board which supports 4 sticks of DDR3 RAM. Up to 3 way CrossFire X and 2 Way SLI ( 2 PCI Express 16x). It also has SATA 3 and USB 3.1 type C. Overall this is what you get for a $180 board right now.
MSI B85-G43 Gaming – $120
This is a much cheaper motherboard prices at only $120 on Amazon. This unfortunately only has 1 PCIe 16x slot which are mainly for graphics cards. The still does have 4 slots of DDR3 RAM, SATA 6GB/s and USB 3.0 but not USB 3.1 support. This is pretty much the downgraded version of the $180 motherboard.
ASUS Z97-K/CSM – $145
This is a slightly more expensive than the B85-G43 or the one above this priced at $145. This also just like the B85-G43 only has 1 PCIe 16x for graphics cards. It has as usual 4 RAM slots with a max of 32GB of DDR3. This also like all others have few USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. This is probably just a ASUS version of the MSI B85-G43 because of its similar features. I do still recommend the ASUS board more because of its extra features that I didn’t mention here. You can still use the MSI board of you are on a smaller budget.
Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 – $180
This is motherboard just like the 1st one priced at $180. Just like the first MSI board this supports up to 2 way SLI. This also like all others have 4 DDR3 RAM slots which can support up to 32GB. This motherboard is pretty much the ASUS Z97-K/CSM but has 2 way SLI for future upgradability.
ASUS B85M-E/CSM – $80
This is another ASUS board with pretty much the same features. Then your probably thinking Koji why is this on the list. Well it’s because of the price which is only $80. This is a micro ATX board with 1 PCIe 16x slot for graphics cards and 4 DDR3 RAM slots up to 32GB. This also has USB 3.0 and 2.0 and all other io stuff. This I think is the best value board in this entire article.
Bonus: ASUS Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 – Approx $350
A article can’t be complete without the awesomely overpriced ASUS Sabertooth Board. Honestly I think this is the best looking motherboard out right now.
Overall these are the best motherboards you can buy on Amazon at the time of scripting and may change in the coming months. The motherboards are worth paying a little extra not a lot so you can upgrade later when you have money. The recommended price range with these motherboards are probably $500 or up with just the PC no peripherals. Guys be sure to come back tomorrow for another CPU benchmark and more. Maybe a build guide special edition?
