Speck has been one of the most popular case makers for years, making cases for all sorts of devices. Speck’s aim is to create a case that embodies their style and provides military grade protection in a wonderful package. The designs of each of their cases may be similar, but are never to be underestimated.
Aesthetics & Durability
The Speck CandyShell Grip Case for the Nexus 6P comes in a similar design to other Speck cases, with grippy rubber lines gripping onto the plastic build. It is extremely grippy – the perfect solution to the bare metal on the phone. The cutouts on the case are perfect, and this may be the case with the most responsive buttons I have every seen. They have no difference in response wherever you press on the button whereas in other cases you need to put much more force towards the center of the buttons to get them to click. Overall, the black rubber lines on the white shiny plastic finish look elegant and modern, for a unique look that is absolutely wonderful for those who want a protective case.
The CandyShell Grip may be the most durable case for the Nexus 6P – it comes with Military Grade protection and lives up to this name. The problem? The case has this sort of plastic finish that has an easily scratch-able surface, leaving room for deep scratches when you keep the case in your pocket.
This case may not be for you if you want to preserve the out of the box look of the 6P. The case almost eliminates the camera hump, which is absolutely fantastic for many users, but it looks nothing like the real phone inside. If you want to preserve the look of the phone, you may want to take a look at Spigen’s clear case or the Unicorn Beetle Hybrid from Supcase. However, the Speck CandyShell Grip still looks great on the phone.
The Best Case for the Nexus 6P?
The CandyShell Grip has everything you would ever want in a case. Its durable for day to day drops, aesthetically appealing with a nice consistent design, and premium just like the phone itself – I would recommend this case for anyone. On the other hand, if you want to preserve the original look of your phone and can’t stand minute scratches, then you may want to look into cases from Spigen or Supcase, but if not, this case is definitely the case for you.
